Q1.Where was it most likely that the two girls would find work after school?

Ans: The two girls were Sophie and Jansie. It was most likely that both of them would find work in a biscuit factory after school. Sophie was a big dreamer but Jansie was a practical girl. Sophie had wild dreams about her career. But Jansie knew that all her dreams were nothing but imaginary ones.

Q2. What were the options that Sophie was dreaming of? Why does Jansie discourage her from having such dreams?

Ans: Sophie dreamt to open a boutique. She also dreamt to be an actress or a fashion designer or a manager with some big company. But Jansie knew that Sophie belonged to a poor family. She discouraged her because she knew that all her dreams were nothing but imaginary ones.

Ans: Sophie told her brother Geoff about her meeting with Danny Casey. But then Geoff told her father that she had met Danny Casey. On hearing this the father became angry and he turned his head to look at her with disdain. Thus Sophie wriggled because she feared that he would be angry with her.
