Tense- Future continuous / perfect / perfect continuous

2 3

Future continuous

Formation

Affirmative: Subject + shall be / will be + Ving + Object.
Negative: Subject + shall not be / will not be + Ving + Object.
Interrogative: Shall / will +  Subject + be + Ving + Object?
Wh-question: Wh-word + Shall / will +  Subject + be + Ving + Object?

USES

1. To talk about something that is predicted to start before a particular point of future time, and that may continue after this point (often the result of a previous decision or arrangement);
At 8 pm tonight, I will be travelling to Mumbai.
When you reach the station, they will be waiting for you.

2. To talk about a future activity that is part of the normal course of events or that is one of a repeated or regular series of events: Dr Joshi will be giving the same talk in room 103 at ten next Thursday.
Will you be driving to work, as usual?

3. We can often use either the future continuous or the present continuous when we talk about arranged activities or events in the future. Compare:
We will be leaving for Mumbai at 7:00 in the evening. (reporting the details of a programme or timetable)
Or
(i) We are leaving for Mumbai at 7:00 in the evening.
(ii) When the race starts later this afternoon the drivers will be hoping for drier weather than last year. (not ... are hoping ...not reporting the details of a programme or timetable)

4. When we don't want to indicate willingness, intention, invitation, etc., we prefer to use the future of will. (If guests have stayed longer than you wanted, and you don't know when they are leaving, you might ask.)
(i) Will you be staying with us again tonight? (asking about their plans)
(ii) Will you stay with us again tonight? (they might think this is an invitation)

Future perfect and future perfect continuous:

Formation (Future perfect)

Affirmative: Subject + shall have / will have + V3 + Object.
Negative: Subject + shall not have / will not have + V3 + Object.
Interrogative: Shall / will +  Subject + have + V3 + Object?
Wh-question: Wh-word + Shall / will +  Subject + have + V3 + Object?

Formation (Future perfect continuous)

Affirmative: Subject + shall have been / will have been + Ving + Object + since / for + time.
Negative: Subject + shall not have been / will not have been + Ving + Object + since / for + time.
Interrogative: Shall / will +  Subject + have been + Ving + Object + since / for + time?
Wh-question: Wh-word + Shall / will +  Subject + have been + Ving + Object + since / for + time?

USES

1. We use the future perfect to say that something will be ended, completed, or achieved by a particular point in the future:
(i) By the time you get home, I will have cleaned the house from top to bottom.

2. We use the future perfect continuous to emphasize the duration of an activity in progress at a particular point in the future:
Next year I will have been working in this company for 30 years.

With both the future perfect and future perfect continuous we usually mention the future time. (e.g. By the time you get home... Next year...).
